Overview of Skills and Experiences

    Mark specializes in the PeopleSoft Enterprise software product owned by Oracle Corporatioin. Mark has been in the Information Management field since 1986. During that time he has had the opportunity to work with a variety of operating systems and programming languages. He has performed roles including Analyst, Programmer, DBA, Trainer, Mentor, and Project Manager. Since 1993, his experience has been focused on the selection, implementation, installation, configuration and upgrade of PeopleSoft Enterprise products. His emphasis has been on the technical components of PeopleSoft Enterprise. His strengths include a strong technical knowledge base as well as excellent analytical, problem solving, research, communications and team building skills. His technical and functional skills include PeopleSoft Enterprise Financials and HRMS. Mark has completed several formal technical PeopleSoft Enterprise courses. He has also provided training for client users and technical staff on the PeopleSoft Enterprise technical architecture and tools.

    Established and managed PeopleSoft Enterprise technical environments from PeopleTools 3 thru 8.49
    Have been involved with PeopleSoft Enterprise implementations in Financials and HRMS, delivering solutions on time under strict time lines.

Consulting Engagements:

Transportation - September 2008 - March 2009

Providing technical expertise for a simultaneous upgrade of a Financials 8.8 SP1 to 9.0 and HRMS 8.8 SP1 to 9.0 systems, both on the SQL Server platform.  Roles to be performed include project management, software installation and configuration, execution of all upgrade tasks, re-customization, testing, and issue resolution.

Education - June 2008 - October 2008

Providing technical expertise to support an upgrade of a Student Administration/HRMS 8.0 to Campus Solutions/HRMS 9.0 on the SQL Server platform.  Roles performed included re-customization, testing, issue resolution, development of revised job schedules, and production support.

Insurance - October 2006 - March 2009

Functional and technical expertise was provided for the implementation of PeopleSoft Financials 8.9 General Ledger.  The functional focus was on the Allocations component of the module.  The technical expertise included the design and creation of allocation steps, nVision and Crystal Reports.  The assignment also included testing, implementation, and support services.

Insurance - July 2006 - September 2006

Technical expertise was provided to support their PeopleSoft Financials 8.8 General Ledger and Accounts Payable and PeopleSoft 8.8 EPM Budgets applications during a resource transition.  This assignment includes support, maintenance, and enhancement.  It also includes mentoring of existing staff being trained on the support of the PeopleSoft systems and transitioning of support to employee(s) hired to fill permanent support role.

Education  - May 2006 - June 2006

Technical expertise was provided to support an upgrade of a Financials Education and Government 7.5sp2 to 8.8 SP1 with maintenance packs.  Responsibilities included execution of upgrade process, configuration of environment, customization review along with design assistance for any needed re-customizations, Requisition approval workflow design and implementation, and miscellaneous development.  Mentoring of internal staff was provided throughout the engagement.

Insurance - Jan 2006 - Mar 2006

Technical assistance was provided for the implementation of a PeopleSoft Financials 8.8 Accounts Payable module.  Role included analysis, design, development, and testing of customizations, Query development, issue resolution, and production cut-over support.

Financial/Insurance - Apr 2004 - Aug 2004

Functional and technical design and development was provided for the implementation of a QuickBooks accounting solution for Regional Field Offices with integration to the corporate PeopleSoft Financials system.  

ASP Hosting - Sept 2002 - Present

Provide technical and functional production support and enhancements through an ASP environment for both a Financials 8 SP2 and HRMS 8.3 SP1 environment.  Support included the maintenance of the test and production environments, analysis and resolution of production issues, and the development of customizations to enhance the customer's use of the software.  The ASP support is provided on a part-time basis in conjunction with other full-time client commitments. 

Transportation -  Dec 2003 - Mar 2004

Lead the discovery for the implementation of the PeopleSoft Contracts, Projects, Billing, and Receivables for two of the company's business units.  The process included the gathering of requirements and the creation of a demonstration environment to illustrate how the system could accomplish their needs.  The demonstration was successfully performed and a proposal was presented outlining the recommended implementation strategy.

Transportation - Sept 2003 - Dec 2003

Provided technical support for the implementation of the Asset Management module including the loading of Assets for five business units along with the calculation and reconciliation of depreciation for the initial load and subsequent years worth of additions and adjustments that were performed directly in the system.

Transportation - Aug 2003 - Oct 2003

Assisted with the re-deployment of PeopleSoft Time and Labor within an HRMS 8.3 SP1 environment.  This included the upgrade of the HRMS environment from 8.3 to 8.3SP1 and application of all outstanding bundles.  It also involved the design and development of Time and Labor rules to support overtime, benefits payments, holidays, salaried time (40 hrs), and allocation of Vacation/Sick/Bereavement based on prior weeks time).  In addition to the application upgrade, a PeopleTools upgrade was performed on the HRMS and Financials environments from 8.17.02 to 8.19.11.

Financial/Insurance - Jan 2003 - Oct 2003

Provided technical expertise for the upgrade of Financials 7.53 to 8.4 on the OS/390 platform utilizing AIX for the Web and Application Servers.  Assistance was focused primarily on the management and execution of multiple upgrade cycles.  Also contributed to the technical infrastructure configuration of the Application Servers, Web Servers, Process Schedulers, and PeopleBooks.  

Financial/Insurance -Nov 2002 - Mar 2003

Performed a Business Process review, comparing original processes from pre-merger companies to determine the new merged company process as the Financial systems were merged together into PeopleSoft Financials.  Also assisted with design and testing of new interfaces into PeopleSoft Financials 7.53.

Financial/Insurance - Oct 2002 - Jan 2003

Provided functional and technical expertise for the configuration and customization of the PeopleSoft Payroll to GL interface.  Also assisted with the design and testing of a custom compensation accounting feed to the GL system. 

Insurance - Sept 2002 - Oct 2002

Assisted with final testing and preparation of Budgets 8 SP2 module.  This included the Expense and Position budgeting components of the module.

Transportation  -  Mar 2002 - Sept 2002

Provided technical expertise for a simultaneous upgrade of a Financials 7.52 to 8 SP2 and HRMS 7.5 to 8.3 systems, both on the SQL Server platform.  Roles performed included project management, software installation and configuration, execution of all upgrade tasks, testing, and issue resolution.

Insurance  - Sept 2001 - Jan 2002

Provided technical expertise for the upgrade of Financials 7.53 to 8 SP2 on the OS/390 platform.  Assistance was provided to all aspects of the upgrade, including project management, software installation and configuration, execution of all upgrade tasks, and testing.  The upgrade also involved upgrading their HR databases to the 8.15 release of PeopleTools from 8.13.  Throughout the upgrade project, assistance was provided to the technical staff for production HRMS and Financial issues.

Insurance  -  May 2001 - Aug 2001

Provided technical expertise for the upgrade of HRMS 7.5 to 8 SP1.  Assistance was provided to all aspects of the upgrade, including project management, software installation and configuration, execution of all upgrade tasks, testing, and move to production.  Also provided occasional support to the technical and functional staff for the Financial products.

Pre-Consulting PeopleSoft Enterprise Experience:

    Utilities

    Mark was a member of a team chartered to select a new accounting software solution to replace an outdated, inflexible, and non-supported general ledger application. The evaluation involved the gathering of requirements, coordination and review of 50+ vendor RFI’s, and detailed review and demonstration of five leading software solutions. The selection process was expanded to look for a single vendor enterprise resource planning solution to meet long-term needs. PeopleSoft Enterprise Financials and Human Resources products were selected and implemented. Initial modules included General Ledger, Human Resources, Payroll, and base Benefits using PeopleTools 3.x, Financials 3.3 and HR 4.0.

    Since implementation, upgrades were performed to version 5.x, which included the implementation of Project Costing and Asset Management, and to version 7.0, which included a partial implementation of the Budgets module. A configuration of a PeopleSoft Enterprise Financials 7.5 demo environment was also performed to provide a review and demonstration of the new Budgets module architecture.

    Roles performed included:

    Development of project plans and estimates
    Installation of PeopleSoft Enterprise software
    Installation of database connectivity software (Centura and DB2 Connect)
    Design and implementation of security including an auto sign-on feature
    Design and development of routines for workstation setup and maintenance
    Liaison to technical support staff
    Creation of databases and the proper backup, recovery and reorganization utilities
    Data architecture analysis
    Performance and tuning
    Instructor for PeopleTools II and PeopleCode classes
    Coaching on design, implementation, tuning and troubleshooting of PeopleSoft Enterprise applications
    Maintenance of the PeopleTools technical architecture
    Installation of PeopleSoft Enterprise Application Server on Windows NT
    Installation of Essbase for use with Budgets Explorer 7.5
    Assisted clients in the efficient querying and reporting of data
    Assisted clients in the setup and configuration of General Ledger features
    Designed and developed customizations and methods for bridging the gaps between the software package and company business processes including a routine for deriving accounts based on other process oriented chartfields
    Worked with PeopleSoft Enterprise Global Support Center and Account Management to resolve problems

    Coordination of mainframe security including RACF, DB2 and IMS/ADF
    Implementation of LAN security environment for Novell LANs
    Organization and training of decentralized group level administrators to maintain security for specific client areas
    Developing and providing security awareness training to employees
    Maintenance of corporate data repository environment
    Coordinated the replacement of the IBM Data Dictionary with the DB2 based BrownStone repository
